Welcome to the great white north. As I write this blog we have a snow storm warning for Monday. For all of you that are not wintering at home, eat your hearts out. Its awesome to be a northerner.
On January 30 Pickleball Canada will be launching a new web site. It has taken 6 months and literally hundreds of hours from a dedicated team to make this happen.
Here are some highlights that you should make yourself aware of:
New IFP rules have been published. Look for the new rule book and the rule book changes
An updated approved paddle list
Insurance has been defined and it does affect your play routines. Basically, you need to follow IFP rules to maintain your insurance. There is an FAQ page to review
Player Support includes information on Coaching/Instructing, Long term athlete development including Youth Programs and Para Pickleball
An electronic insurance waiver will be coming in April.
As you know, PAO has made it mandatory to join Pickleball Canada. The databases are being merged in February. Some of us belong to both organizations with different expiries. Those are being managed separately. Be patient
The North Bay Open is May 19. Registration on Pickelballtournaments opens February 1. Get your registrations in early. North Bay will also be the host city for the PAO Tournament in 2019.
Our club is already an affiliated PCO club. We are ahead of the curve
The Tournament System is better defined.
Lots of new information that at some point you should take a look at. The Pickleball Canada Board is working towards Sports Canada funding. Our goals are to get the Coaching program started and to establish five regional centers of pickleball excellence across Canada.
